Michael is an early employee and Vice President at Oscar Health Insurance having built their revenue and network contracting systems. Prior to Oscar, Michael worked for Bridgewater Associates as a manager in the company’s Research, Client Service, and Recruiting departments. While at Bridgewater, he was the Manager of Research Analytics where he was responsible for 60 investors, managers, and staff. In 2009 he successfully sold DormAid, a college service company, which he launched and ran while he was a student at Harvard and Columbia Business School. Michael has appeared in major media outlets including Fox News, The New York Times, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, Wired, and MSNBC. He is the recipient of Columbia’s Feldberg Fellowship, a full tuition merit scholarship in honor of former Dean Feldberg and sponsored by Henry Kravis. His mentor of over 10 years is George David of United Technologies. He enjoys reading, exercising, meditation, and meeting interesting people. He is a graduate of Columbia Business School and Harvard College.
Nic is a Partner at Bowery Capital based in New York. He focuses on investments in enterprise cloud software, with particular experience in machine learning, supply chain & logistics, healthcare IT, and vertical SaaS. Prior to forming Bowery Capital, Nic worked as an Associate at AOL Ventures, where he helped drive investment in and support of over 20 early-stage technology companies.
Before AOL Ventures, he served in a strategy role in AOL, leading various business development initiatives for the company’s ad tech and video properties. Nic began his career in technology Investment Banking at GCA Global (fka GCA Savvian), where he supported M&A and private financing advisory as an Analyst in the firm’s Internet group. Nic holds an A.B. from Princeton University.
Kimberly is the President and Treasurer of the Board the Directors for the World Future Society, the leading global authority in future studies since 1966. Through publications, global summits, and advisory roles to world leaders in business and governments, the World Future Society is tackling the future of human purpose through futurist mindset education programs and research. Since 2011, Kimberly has worked as an Advisor, Mentor & Judge to startup incubators, companies and entrepreneurship community programs including Startup Weekend NYC, Startup Weekend Centroamerica, Startup Health, Startup Chile, Parallel 18 Puerto Rico, Central American Entrepreneurship Forum, Panama Entrepreneur Week and Chicago Innovation. Kimberly spent from 20017-2014 in Latin America where she worked with private equity and family offices to manage investments in Latam and partnership identification, including the reputable Ben Valor Centroamerica and Ben Betesh International. With an extensive background in real estate investment and development, Kimberly co-founded Kalu Yala, a community development in the Panamanian rainforest pursuing the mission of world’s most sustainable town. She is an avid supporter of arts, music and culture programs and is currently on the Scenemakers Board at the Goodman Theater in Chicago. She graduated Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University in Economics.
Katie is a project manager and events expert currently at Lyric Hospitality, managing small teams in the overall planning and execution of premium short term rentals. Prior to Lyric, she worked for Bridgewater Associates as an event planner in the Recruiting department, running a portfolio of up to 120 events each year. Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from UC Berkeley. She is an alumnae of Psi Chapter, Alpha Delta Pi, a former member of the D1 women’s rowing team, and life-time member of the “Big C Society” after having earned a Varsity letter her Junior year at Cal. Katie continues to spend volunteer time coordinating events for nonprofits including Impact and ChampagneCampaign.org, and in her free time, enjoys traveling, time with close friends and doing CrossFit.
Sandesh is a Business Operations Analyst at Facebook, where he works on monetization and product strategy for Facebook’s new initiatives. Prior to Facebook, Sandesh worked at Cornerstone Research, an economic consulting firm, where he conducted financial and economic analysis to advise companies (tech, consumer retail, and financial institutions) in high-stakes commercial litigation matters. Outside of work, you can find Sandesh playing basketball and tennis, and volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club in East Palo Alto. Sandesh graduated in 2014 with a degree in Applied Math and Economics from Harvard, where he also helped lead the advertising department of The Harvard Crimson.
Matthew Kopko is a Director of Public Policy at Bird. He graduated from Princeton University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He went on to have JD and MBA in Law and Business at the University of Chicago. Before working for Bird, he was a Counselor to the Deputy Secretary and Special Advisor to the Secretary to the US Department of Transportation.
Robert Reffkin is a Founder and CEO of Compass, a real estate technology company with a powerful end-to-end platform that supports the entire buying and selling workflow. Since founding the company, he has raised $135 million in investor capital and has expanded to 22 offices across the United States. Before he founded Compass, he worked as the Chief 0f Staff to the President and Chief Operating Office at Goldman Sachs.
Sara Jacobs is a Democratic Candidate for Congress, California’s 49th Congressional District. Having gained experience as a Conflict and Stabilization Policy Officer at the State Department under former President Obama, being part of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations at the United Nations, and more non-profit works, she plans to bring the right groups of people together to fix society’s problems.
Atin is the co-founder of Ellie, a virtual breastfeeding assistant for new moms. He holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park. Before co-founding Ellie, Atin worked in education where he designed curriculum and services focused on financial education, entrepreneurship, and human-centered design. When not working, Atin volunteers with the non-profit, Impact NYC and sits on the board of The Creativity Foundation. For fun, Atin likes to play drums, shoot photography, and write.
Greg is the Director of Investments for Peterson Management, the family office of Peter G. Peterson (co-founder of The Blackstone Group). He is a generalist, working on special situation investments in the public and private realms. Previously, he was a research analyst at Goldman Sachs, covering energy, industrial and services-based sectors. Prior to Goldman, he was the co-founder of Gradefund and CFO of DormAid, a national college-services business, where he helped lead the growth and eventual sale in 2009. In his spare time, he competes in triathlons and is a member of Team USA after being named the 2015 national champion in Aquathlon. Greg graduated from Columbia University in 2009 with a BA in Economics, where he was a Division I swimmer and co-founder of the Columbia Financial Investment Group.
Lina Tetelbaum has been a Corporate Associate at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz for more than 6 years. She graduated from Harvard University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. She went on to get her JD at Yale Law School. During her time with Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz, she became a Secretary for the Corporation Law Committee at the New York City Bar Association.
